Concept designs

Concept designs are the pieces outside the catalog: developed with an architect, produced once, or not yet part of the collection. What they share is that they were designed around an idea rather than a standard list of sizes.

How these pieces come about

The production side of Marbler Art rests on the stone processing experience of our group company Aktaş Mermer, working in Izmir since 1965. The design side runs with architects who know the material. Concept pieces are born where the two meet: a form proposed by an architect meets what the stone can actually do in the workshop, and more often than not both change a little before the piece emerges.

Temple is a round coffee table inspired by temple architecture, wood and marble meeting in column-like legs, made in Alexander Black. Bohem is a console with a broad surface and a plain line for an entrance hall or a living room wall. Muscle, Islands, Coin, Gear, Shapes and Bumerang are one-off coffee and side table studies in travertine, Calacatta and Nero Grigio.

A piece designed for you

If you need a piece in dimensions that fit your home exactly, the concept design process exists for that. It usually goes like this:

  1. Space and dimensions. A photo of the room, rough measurements and your existing furniture, if any. Nothing has to be decided at this stage.
  2. Stone selection. From the slabs in stock and what our suppliers can source, we narrow down together the stones that suit the room. If you wish, we send slab photos; every slab of natural stone is unique, so the choice is real.
  3. Drawing. A dimensioned technical drawing and a rendering. Changes at this stage are free, and we expect them.
  4. Production. After approval, 2 to 6 weeks, usually 3 to 4, plus transit. A little longer than the collection pieces, because templates and jigs are added to the process.

Pricing

The price of a concept piece is made up of the stone’s cost per square meter, the labor and any special fittings. We share a range before the drawing stage and fix the price when the drawing is approved. There are no surprise costs. Export crating is included in the quote and freight to your address is quoted per order.
