Travertine and marble console tables

The console is the first piece of furniture seen in an entrance. It stands against the wall, carries a mirror or a painting and sets the tone for the rest of the home. Marbler Art consoles are made with natural marble and travertine, and the proportion of body to stone is designed so the piece looks settled rather than heavy.

A custom travertine console is the piece we are asked for most often in a new length: tell us the wall and the depth you have and we adapt the design to it.

Entrance hall or living room wall

The two uses call for different dimensions. In an entrance hall a console should be narrow and leave the passage clear; 35 to 40 cm (14 to 16 in) of depth is enough in most hallways. Against a living room wall it doubles as a media console or sideboard, and up to 45 cm (18 in) of depth is comfortable. For the length, a simple rule: the composition balances when the console is at least 20 cm (8 in) longer than the mirror or artwork above it.

The collection

Bohem is a console with a broad surface and a plain line, designed for an entrance hall or a living room wall; it is made in Alexander Black. Castle and Cave speak the same language as the coffee tables of the same names and build a consistent room when used together: seeing the same stone, worked the same way, in two different pieces is one of the ways natural stone looks its best. Screw brings the twisted base of its coffee table to console scale, and Vent is a low media console in travertine.

Material and construction

The console top is made thick enough to carry what is placed on it for years and is sized to sit exactly on the body. Stone options include Burdur travertine, Akhisar beige, Calacatta, Calacatta Ocean, Calacatta Viola, Volakas, Alexander Black and Blue Onyx.

Production and shipping

Every console is made after your order, from the slab chosen for you. Production takes 2 to 6 weeks, most orders 3 to 4 weeks, plus transit. Consoles are bulky pieces; they ship in a double-layer wooden export crate, top and body as separate parts where the design allows. Freight is quoted per order; see shipping to the USA and international orders.

Care

A console in an entrance hall is a surface for keys and bags. Metal objects can leave fine scratches over time; a small tray or a leather mat prevents that entirely. A damp microfiber cloth is enough for cleaning; do not use acidic cleaners. Detailed care guide.
